WATCH A BMW TURN INTO THE HULK WHEN SPLASHED WITH HOT WATER

via: Nerdist

Marvel’s jade-skinned giant has enjoyed a long and storied relationship with the automotive industry, going back to the van that Mego Toys designed for use with their Hulk action figure in the ’70s. (Just why the Green Goliath, who’s often hunted and hounded by the U.S. military, would want to drive around in a vehicle with his face plastered on the side of it was never adequately explained.)

Then, in 2006’s The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift (the best or the worst of the Fast & Furiousseries, depending on who you ask), the film’s heroes cruise around Japan in a 2005 Volkswagen Touran that’s been customized into their very own Hulk Car. Oh yeah…

But the latest and perhaps greatest development in the timeless love affair between gearheads and the emerald Avenger is a BMW X6 that actually changes color from blue to gamma-radiated green when its paintjob is exposed to hot water, revealing a familiar face as the car makes like Bruce Banner and Hulks the hell out…

This little bit of magic uses paint technology that’s been around for a few years, as Auto Evolution points out. Readers of a certain age in fact will recall that Hot Wheels once manufactured toy cars that performed a similar feat when kids wet them with hot water. So the big question here is — just why did no one think to do this to a full-size car before? Credit acclaimed German graffiti artist Rene Turrek with seizing the opportunity.

* thank you, Tammy!

it would've been cooler if the change of color is activated by something natural, like cold water (from rain) or so.
