INDY COMICS - PART 2 (of 3)

TH3RDWORLD STUDIOS!! YAY!!

You can check out what's what HERE at their website, where you can view several issues for FREE to wet your palette!!! And while you're there, dig their 2 FREE WEEKLY WEB COMICS, "ESKIMO DAVE" and "SUPERFOGEYS"!!!!

ESKIMO DAVE:
Eskimo Dave and his traveling companion, Steve the polar bear, are on a quest to rescue his village from the destructive forces of evil.

SUPERFOGEYS:
Where do old superfolk go when it's time to get out of the game? To Valhalla - Home for the Supertired

Another reason to check out TH3RDWORLD STUDIOS and ESKIMO DAVE is our own friend SCOTT KING is writing Eskimo Dave!!!! That's right, his first issue is up now (#36) and will go for 3 issues. Then he's off for 5 issues while another writer bangs out an arc, but RETURNS after that with a whopping 17 issues in a row!! Yeah, baby!!! A new Eskimo Dave is posted every wednesday!

In addition, here are some Non-DC/Marvel Books that Scott recommends off the top of his head:

"Bone" by Jeff Smith. If you've not picked this up because you felt it was too "all ages" then you're really missing out because it is by far the best comic series I've ever read.

"An American Born Chinese" published by First Second is more of a drama than a regular comic, but the twist and the pay off as well as the social commentary make it a great book to pick up.

"Ultra" by Image is fun book because it has a "Sex in the City" type of vibe but with Superheroes. Even though its the Luna brother's first book it is by far their best.

"Invincible" by Image is another great superhero comic. The book is kind of how "Spider-Man" should be but isn't. It perfectly balances superhero-stuff with real life as well as drama and comedy.

"Mom's Cancer" (which was published by a book company and can easily be found in most book stores) is one of the best if not the best non-fiction graphic novel I've ever read. It handles the serious topic of cancer but with a humor that keeps it from getting too dark and depressing.

"Blankets" published by Top Shelf and done by Craig Thompson is a seriously thick book, and tells a melodrama-filled coming of age story.

Thanks, Scott!

Thanks for the plug!

I'm actually really excited about "Eskimo Dave." Volume one should take us up to around 120 episodes and even though I'm not writing every arc, I mapped out the whole storyline and am overseeing it. The plan is later collect it as a graphic novel.

Also, if you're looking for any of the books mentioned above Neptune Comics (http://www.neptunecomics.com/) is a great place to get them!
